Long ago, on a sun-drenched island somewhere between truth and tropical nonsense, lived the Dodos, plump, proud, and entirely allergic to flight.

One afternoon, while most of the Dodos were busy complaining about gravity, a particularly curious Dodo heard a catchy tune drifting across the sand. Someone was singing “Put the lime in the coconut.”

Intrigued, it waddled towards the sound. Our Dodo found itself outside Mami Lagesse’s place, where the scent of something sweet and tangy hung in the air. There, half-hidden under a lime tree, was a cracked coconut with some leftovers from Mami’s secret juice. A legendary island concoction said to make the stiffest dance, the shyest sing, and the ordinary do things they never thought possible.

The Dodo took a cautious sip.
 Then another. Eyes wide, feathers tingling with excitement. As guitar notes drifted through the air, something extraordinary happened.

Feathers shimmered lime-green.

Wings buzzed with energy, and with one chaotic flap, the Dodo lifted off the ground.

The other Dodos looked up, breadcrumbs falling from their beaks in disbelief. Few could have imagined what was happening, and fewer still would live to tell the tale. As history would have it, the Dodo became extinct around 1690…

Yet to this day, it’s claimed that the lime-coloured Dodo has been glimpsed more often than Bigfoot, and is seen in folklore as a symbol of curiosity and courage.
